[MUSIC PLAYING] A goal is a dream with a process and a deadline. As a small business owner, I know you work hard. You're always hustling for the next client, the next sale, or the next partnership. But do you ever pause to consider why you're doing it? Are you working towards the right goals for your life and your business? If you're not sure or if the answer isn't, of course, then you're in the right place to learn.
My name is Daymond John. You may know me as the people shark from Shark Tank, the founder and CEO of FUBU, or perhaps you've read one of my best selling books. I have two of them. No other shark can say that. Or you may have heard some of my speeches. At the end of the day, I'm a small business owner just like you. But when I use the goal setting strategies I'll teach you in this course, I turn my small business into a multi-billion dollar brand.
And today I'm excited to be your teacher in this course. The goal, of course, is to help you visualize a compelling future for your business and your life and set goals to help you achieve that dream. How will we do that? You'll learn the framework I use to create goals. And I'll then teach the practical skills to achieve them.
By the end of this course, you're going to have 10 goals that make you excited to leap out of bed in the morning and have a plan of action to start achieving them. Why am I teaching you goal setting? Well, goal setting is a number one secret to my success. I've been setting goals since I was 16 years old when I first read Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.
That book changed the game for me. And over the years, I've created my own system to achieving goals in my life. So here's how I recommend you take this course. First of all, approach it with a beginner's mindset. You may be thinking, yeah, yeah, yeah, I've tried goal setting before, but it didn't work. Why would it work for me now? Don't limit me yourself.
It's important you let that go if you want to make progress. In module number one, you'll complete the goal setting workshop. You'll learn why goals matter and how to set them. By the way, you are setting goals whether you know what or not. But they may be negative because you're not in control them, such as, I can't do, I won't do, it's never been done. Now, in module number two, you'll discover my follow-through formula.
This module is all about action. If you do not take action, you will never set and/or complete your goal. I'll teach you how to develop your influence, negotiate what you want, and develop valuable business relationships. In module number three, I'll teach you how to reflect on your goal setting so you can make changes and updates to your plan. I'll also show you how to teach your employees or team members how to set goals to help you and them grow even faster.
Now, before you get going, I want to acknowledge something, I admire you. You're a part of a small group of people who are willing to take actions to achieve their dreams. According to a Harvard Business School study, 83% of the population does not take the time to set professional goals or at least they don't believe they're taking the time to set professional goals.
