[MUSIC PLAYING] COREY FERREIRA: If you're looking for a way to find a dropshipping supplier and products that's quicker and easier, I'm going to recommend Oberlo. So Oberlo is an app for Shopify that allows you to quickly find an add a product to your store from numerous suppliers serving various niches. Oberlo makes it easy to add products to your store directly from suppliers with the click of a button. So product photos and product descriptions are all done for you and processing orders is also done in only a few clicks, and the supplier handles the rest.
So with Oberlo you have access to products from two different marketplaces-- Oberlo Supply and AliExpress. Oberlo Supply is a marketplace of vetted suppliers that is constantly growing. Unlike other marketplaces and directories for dropshipping suppliers, Oberlo Supply allows us to quickly add dozens, if not hundreds, of products into our store in minutes. It also makes processing orders a lot easier.
At the end of every day, we just pay for the orders, then send out to suppliers, and they handle the rest. Oberlo Supply also offers lower cost per order on most products than other directories and marketplaces since suppliers are located all around the world, allowing us to add our own markup. AliExpress is an online retailer made up of mostly Chinese suppliers. Think Amazon or eBay, but with most sellers being located in China.
However, while the site is meant to be a shopping portal for the public, since prices are so low for most products, resellers and retailers have gone to AliExpress to either buy products in bulk or dropship. Because of this, many suppliers on AliExpress understand they're being used as a dropship supplier and want to work with store owners. So like Oberlo Supply, Oberlo will allow us to add products from AliExpress, complete with product photos and descriptions, and we'll also be able to add our own markup and process each order within Oberlo.
So what are some of the advantages and disadvantages of using Oberlo versus the traditional way of finding suppliers and working with dropshipping suppliers. So let's start with some of the cons. First, longer shipping times. Because many of the suppliers within Oberlo Supply are overseas and many of the suppliers in AliExpress are located in China, customers will need to wait longer to receive their order. Fortunately, there is an affordable shipping option to ensure customers receive their order within a reasonable time called ePacket.
We'll talk about this later in this module. Next, less customization. If you're looking for a white label manufacturer or a supplier that can brand and customize packaging, you might not find that on Oberlo Supply or AliExpress, at least not until you bring in a large amount of consistent sales. Some suppliers may be willing to work with you if you're a VIP. Otherwise, it might be too much for them to cater to the needs of individual store owners when they're likely dealing with hundreds of suppliers every single day.
Next, less options. Oberlo Supply is smaller than the vast options available to you on the internet. If you're looking for something very niche or specific on your store, you might find it within Oberlo Supply or AliExpress, but you might not. So I recommend not falling in love with an idea or being emotional about what you want to sell. It's important that we run a store that's successful and can find customers than a one that can't.
So now let's take a look at some of the pros of using Oberlo. First, low barrier of entry. It's much easier to get started using Oberlo. Instead of going out and digging for suppliers, vetted ones are in place for you to pick from. Ordering and fulfillment is semi-automated. You can place orders with your suppliers and only a few but impresses.
Just pay for the cost of goods, and Oberlo handles the rest. And your supplier ships orders directly to your customers for you. Lastly, it's quick to start and test. Adding products to your store complete with product photos and descriptions only takes minutes. You can add hundreds of different products from dozens of different suppliers and start selling in the same day. This allows you to get off the ground faster, test various products quicker, and see what works before investing too much time or money.
Oberlo makes your store much more flexible, and you can pivot on a dime. For example, you might start off with a focus on women's jewelry and accessories. After running a few test ads for different products, an iPhone case with sparkling diamonds brings in more sales than the other products you're testing. You can now change the focus and target audience of your store and start selling these kinds of photos instead of women's jewelry and accessories.
This in my opinion is the true power of a tool like Oberlo. In the past, despite dropshipping's low commitment and risk, you'd still need to negotiate with a supplier and spend time setting up your store. Now, if something doesn't work, you can quickly move on and test another product even in an entirely different niche. If you're looking for a specific product to sell or like the idea of customization and branding of your products, we'll cover that in the next module.
See you there.
